Save the Date – Welcome to Perry Mural project dedication

 

Perry Economic Development (PED), through an Iowa Arts Council Creative Places Project Grant, will unveil a destination-worthy mural at the Raccoon River Valley Trailhead in Perry, Iowa, on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 4:00 PM. This dedication is open to the public, with an anticipated inclusion of bicyclists who use this popular trail.

PED matched funds from the grant, and commissioned mural artist Shawn Palek to return to Perry for this major installation. Palek’s previous murals can be seen in locations in Perry and across Iowa. He is working with PED, Chamber of Commerce, and City support in choosing representative images as part of the “Welcome to Perry Iowa” message that will dominate the artwork. This mural will adorn the northeast side of the City maintenance building at 923 Warford Street, transforming its corrugated steel exterior into a signature invitation to visitors.
